Nice comparison. You did not mention price…$399 for Mavic Mini should be worth 3 points for the Mini. Mini wins!!!

Maybe a later firmware update for the Mavic Mini could shoot in 4k? is that even possible just from an update? Thanks.

mavic mini don't need any rules, regulations this world?

  • November 7, 2019 at 7:16 AM

Good videos! But i heard that bacause of FCC and CE that its not 4 km of range but far less in europe. Do you know if its true??

Not really a tie. The options you can do with a Air is much more, example follow mode. Mini is still not a bad drone. But this is not really a tie.

Do you think the mini can be used for real estate videos or anything else?

I am thumbs-downing this video because of one issue. You mentioned in the end about " laws, regulations and all that…." The fact you don't have to register this *under a certain weight with FAA.. you still have to yield to drone flying rules/laws. That is a huge, huge thing you have to learn about.
With the rules in place depending on your area, it has stopped me paying $499.. $999..$1499..$1799 for a drone. period. The store I saw a DJI demonstration at was not even supposed to fly them because they were to close to a commercial runway.
To be honest, I have no idea how the prices for drones are so expensive with the true experience you have to deal with. Great if your camping, in the woods.. OH but if your in canada you couldn't fly above animals.. near buildings.. over people.. height, distance..
You may make money off youtube doing videos, but drones – living in cities or even So. California.. there are a lot of regulations and rules about Drones.

If I have a phone that doesnt have cellular service but through wifi I am able to download the app and then go outside to fly the drone without any connection from the phone but to use a screen for the drone, WILL IT STILL WORK, WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO SEE THROUGH THE CAMERA ON THE DRONE AND ALL INDICATORS?????
I really want to by the DJI mini but I am not a cellphone user anymore. I do have an old phone sitting around that does connect to the wifi in my house

Seriously considering getting the Mini as an upgrade from my Spark. The battery life and price are what does it. $800AUD for the Mini as compared to $1600AUD for the Air is a big deal for me, and I'm only going to be using it for YouTube. And half an hour battery life? Definitely worth it.

Are those the Spanish steps in Rome behind you?

  • November 8, 2019 at 8:31 AM

Great comparison. Oh I give the mavic air 1 more point because of the speed 🙂. I believe 42mph with air vs 29mph with mini?

  • November 8, 2019 at 1:22 PM

I never understood the success of the air. Maybe if it had come out before the mp but for about the same price you get a longer flight time, much better connectivity and range and no irritating prop noise. The mini is everything the spark should have been. It's obvious DJI held back some of the features so they wouldn't cannibalize their more expensive drone sales.

Well, less weight doesn't mean it's better as it can't resist stronger winds like the mavic air does (Would be cool to test it, just be careful if you will)
Also in most of the world there's a limit on KG, barely any countries that limit you on grams. Price is obvious, mavic mini has less stuff compared to the air
    It's kinda like comparing a 5KG washing machine to a 10KG one

Both of these drones have been made for completely different audiences
In the end like you've said it's the user's choice to decide, it's just unfair that they both got 8-8, it's like the video was made to make the mavic mini look better, but it has major downsides, which people might not understand if they get the mini over the air or the air over the mini.

fit the prop guards and then check the weight think you will find you have to register the drone as max take off weight is under 250grams and with prop guards the weight is around 270+grams so in effect if you fly with prop guards you still have to register

This is spot on. I have a Mavic Air and I’ve been tempted before to look at other options after my history of the OG Phantom, Phantom 2, Mavic Pro etc but I’ve never been disappointed with the footage or experience on my Air.

  • November 9, 2019 at 12:57 AM

The other benefit of the mini it could charge the battery while on the go using the battery hub right? =D

I have an Air.. If I get the mini what will I do with the Air T___T

  • November 9, 2019 at 1:35 AM

This was a talking comparison table. Wish you had provided personal feedback based on your usage of both for travel

  • November 9, 2019 at 5:01 AM

The fatal flaw the mavic air had was its unreliable wifi connection (improved when going FCC though). If the mavic mini is reportedly less reliable in this area, then i don't see how it can be a good investment.
